The Break Teen Center in Crystal Lake, Illinois, honors and acknowledges that we are located on the ancestral homelands of the Peoria, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Myaami, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux), Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) tribes. We are deeply grateful to these Nations and to all Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for generations and who continue to do so today. Their histories, cultures, and ongoing contributions are an essential part of our community’s story. At The Break, we honor this connection by committing ourselves to learning, respect, and relationship-building with Indigenous communities—past, present, and future.
