About the Event

Members will write a letter to someone who has upset, hurt, or wronged  them or that they have hurt, upset, or wronged. Members can either keep the letter or rip it up if they are wanting to move forward from the situation. Members will learn the importance of getting out what you need to say. Members will also learn about the importance of moving forward and accepting what happened and knowing they are allowed to feel hurt or upset but letting them know that letting go can be freeing.

LAND ACKNOWLEDMENT STATEMENT:

The Break Teen Center in Crystal Lake, Illinois, honors and acknowledges that we are located on the ancestral homelands of the Peoria, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Myaami, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux), Hoocąk (Ho-Chunk), and Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo) tribes. We are deeply grateful to these Nations and to all Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for generations and who continue to do so today. Their histories, cultures, and ongoing contributions are an essential part of our community’s story. At The Break, we honor this connection by committing ourselves to learning, respect, and relationship-building with Indigenous communities—past, present, and future.
